We have sold our Burgman 400, but decided to leave this page up on the web site for others interested in seeing the photos and specifications. We bought it primarily as a sightseeing vehicle for the weekends. Once we learned that our first baby is on the way, we sold it because it won't hold three people.
The Burgman 400 is ideal for RVers. Our intention was to carry this scooter on a hitch platform installed either on the front bumper of our F-550 truck, or on the rear bumper of our fifth wheel (we sold it before finalizing our decision, but were leaning toward mounting on the truck's front bumper).
The Burgman weighs about 430 lbs. with fuel, so it requires a strong bumper, hitch, and ramp, but at the same time it is not as heavy as the larger motorcycles. The advantage of the Burgman 400 over the smaller, lighter scooters is that it is able to keep up with highway traffic with two adults.
I bought this Burgman new in March 2005, but am no longer able to keep it.
My wife and I have enjoyed cruising on this scooter on the highways and byways. It makes an excellent sightseeing bike and has enough power to carry two adults at highway speeds. Two of us can comfortably cruise at 65 to 70 mph at 6,000 rpm.
